ExCeL London, a premier venue for exhibitions and conferences, sought a comprehensive upgrade to its fire protection system. The project aimed to design a modern sprinkler system that would ensure maximum safety across the vast venue, accommodating large events and exhibitions, while integrating seamlessly with the existing infrastructure.

Challenges

ExCeL’s vast open-plan spaces, including interconnected halls and conference rooms, presented a challenge in achieving consistent fire protection. Integrating the new system with existing services, such as HVAC, lighting, and temporary event setups, demanded careful planning to avoid disruption during major events. Strict compliance with fire safety codes for such a high-traffic venue was also a key priority.

Our Solution

We developed a highly detailed 3D model of the sprinkler system, optimising the design for ExCeL's unique layout. The system was strategically integrated into the venue’s infrastructure, ensuring it provided optimal coverage without interfering with the dynamic nature of the space or event activities.

Results

The new sprinkler system was successfully integrated, improving overall safety while maintaining the venue’s functionality. The installation process was completed without disrupting major events, and feedback highlighted the minimal operational impact.
